Complete Dentures

Full dentures are used to replace teeth when there are no teeth remaining. The teeth are made of prefabricated acrylic which comes in many sizes, shapes, and shades. They are processed into a custom-made acrylic base which is made to fit the gum tissue in your mouth snugly and comfortably. Making a quality set of full dentures usually takes five appointments. Every patient presents with a unique shape of their oral tissue and relationship of their upper and lower jaws. Each patient also has unique aesthetic requirements depending on the size, shape, and tone of their face and jaws. Each of these five appointments is crucial for a final denture which looks, fits, and works well.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal, therefore, immediate dentures would usually require more adjustments to fit properly during the healing process. You will need to have healing liners to keep them fitting at the mouth heals. You will also need to have a permanent reline 6 month after extractions when your healing is over.

Partial Dentures

If you need to replace missing teeth but not an entire mouthful, partial dentures are a practical solution for tooth replacement. Typically kept in place with clasps made of resilient metal alloys or plastic, partial dentures rest upon and wrap around your remaining teeth.

Partial dentures will also help to maintain the spacing of your natural teeth. When teeth are lost or removed, the remaining teeth will often shift to eventually fill the gap created by the lost tooth. This change in teeth spacing can affect the way you bite. This can lead to numerous problems, such Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) problems that could cause headaches, ear aches, clicking or popping sounds, or even difficulty moving your jaw. Partial dentures aim to prevent these problems by working to keep your remaining teeth in their natural position.

If you require partial dentures, turn to Avec Denture Clinic to help preserve your remaining natural teeth while improving your mouth’s overall function and aesthetics. We’ll have you come in for an examination and a consultation to determine if any dental work will be required prior to fitting you for partial dentures for tooth replacement.

Flexible Partial Dentures

Flexible partial dentures provide a natural, snap-fit for retention. No tooth or tissue preparation is required. The nylon based or a polyolefin thermoplastic polymer material allow patients who are allergic to acrylic or metal to wear dentures. Flexible dentures are thin, lightweight, durable and flexible with invisible clasps  that surround the natural teeth and offer the benefits of superior esthetics, comfort, function and bio-compatibility.

Implant supported denture

Implants are small titanium fixtures which are placed in the jawbone through surgery.  Regular dentures rest on the gums while  implants supported dentures are attached and supported by implants. The implants will act as a root replacement, preventing your bone resorbed, and giving the dentures improved stability and a feeling close to that of natural teeth.  If you have difficulty eating or avoid smiling in public because of slipping dentures, implant dentures could be a good option for you. Implant supported dentures are also good for those who are missing an entire row of teeth following decreased and irritated lower gums. We work cooperatively with your local dentist’s treatment plan to give you the best denture and implant combination possible.

Denture Relines & Repairs

Reline / Rebase

From the day you have your natural teeth extracted, the surrounding tissue and gums start receding little by little every year, creating gaps between our gums and your denture. You need to reline to fill this gap, otherwise denture will be loose with ill fit. Denturist Association of BC recommends to do reline every 2~3 years.

Like relining, Rebase is done to make sure the denture is supported and fitted properly. The pink-acrylic material in your denture is called a base. Denture Rebase is the process of replacing the entire denture base material. The existing teeth will remain in place.

Avec denture clinic provides same day reline / rebase service.

If you have a damaged dentures, please contact us, we offer a number of different kinds of denture repairs on the same day.
